Some people say that Second Place is the first loser. I knew a kid who came in third out of three and was pumped that he was in the top five. When I got the second place score of 210 tonight on Silver Strike 2007 I was really excited. Who else can say that they’re second place on the Silver Strike 2007 game at Lefty’s? No one, that’s who. Not Jan, (the following game I bumped him off 102nd place with the lowest score on the machine of 121) he’s 11th, 32nd, 65th . . . but not second. And even if Zumaya comes in on the next home stretch and shoots a perfect 300, I’m still gonna be 3rd. And it would take FOUR players to beat that score before I get bumped out of the top five. Basically, I’m here for awhile. It is true what they say. It is lonely on the top. I just have to stay level headed, be modest and do my dirty (my thangthang, if you will).
Other than that, I think Dragon Flies find me when they need to die. If I can fish them out of a pristine wilderness lake, let them dry off on my shirt and save their small but far from meaningless lives, then I will. But if they just flop around on the concrete steps in front of my house, then all I can really do is try to make their last moments comfortable. I mean gosh darn it, I’m not a doctor!
Johnny and Alex joined Twitter with me… I don’t think they get it yet, I’m not sure that I do, but I do know that I’m freaking super psyched about it. I need a simple release sometimes, and I don’t want to light myself on fire if I don’t have to.
