ALLIGATORS!!!

ALLIGATOR!!!

ALLIGATOR!!!

Alligators have been on the planet earth for at least 200 million years! (that’s 200,000,000 years) That is a long time.  They stay still, but don’t be fooled.  They are not fossils!  They are living DINOSAURS!!!

Alligators only live in America and in China, so if you are from these areas be on the LOOK OUT!!! Alligators tend to avoid human beings, but do not be too sure of yourself.  They will attack you and eat you.  In fact the instances of Alligator on human violence is on the rise!  Please be careful, especially during the mating season.  The males are particularly aggressive during mating season.  FYI: Alligator mating season is in the early spring.

SHARKS!!!

SHARK!!!

SHARK!!!

Before Dinosaurs, before vertebrates, before most plants, even, there were SHARKS!!!  There is evidence that sharks existed four hundred and fifty million years ago. (that’s 450,000,000 years!)  Modern day sharks are more than one hundred million years old.  That is old!  That is before the lion’s share of PLANTS! wow.

These great beasts of the sea are surely mysterious.  Imagine staring into one of their eyes and looking into their AEONS of shared knowledge and wisdom, passed down through evolution and natural selection to create the most deadly natural born killer on planet earth.

Many questions are still unanswered when it comes to SHARKS!!! For example, why do SHARKS!!! have an aversion to dolphins?  The behavior of SHARKS!!! to avoid dolphins even when they have the opportunity to feed is intriguing and can, at least for now, only be attributed to their superior knowledge given to them through the annuals of time herself.

The Stegosaurus

October 26, 2008

The Stegosaurus has a long (145 million years) and interesting (State Fossil of Colorado) history.

One particularly interesting debate surrounding the stegosaurus is the discovery of what might be called a ‘second brain’.  This debate centers around a cavity located in the hip region of the stegosaurus and other sauropods that could conceivably contain an organ twenty times larger than the brain of the stegosaurus.  It has been suggested that this area could house a second brain that would control the tail and rear portion of the animal.

Although an interesting suggestion it is more likely that the area was used as a glycogen deposit.  This excess ‘sugar’ like chemical would be ‘injected’ into the animal’s nervous system when in danger or when it needed an additional boost of energy.  Modern day birds have a very similar system.

There is also, ALWAYS, the possibility that this area contained a psychic communication link between themselves and the rest of their herd, or possibly all other living stegosaurus.  You will not find this theory in any science book.

Many people will also claim that the stegosaurus tail spikes were used primarily in display and not for combat.  There is significant proof that the spikes on the tail of the stegosaurus, know as thagomizer, were definitely a combat weapon.

Not only would a stegosaurus be able to position its body and tail deftly in the case of an attack, there is also fossil records of wounds on carnivores that fit perfectly with the trauma tail spikes would inflict.

There is also the possibility that the thagomizer were actually used as an eating utensil, and stegosaurus all got into a giant circle and fed the stegosaurus behind them as the one in front fed them with their tail.  This theory supports the idea that the stegosaurus had a second brain in their ass.

But then again, no one knows for sure.

Introduction to Ghost

July 16, 2008

Hello cold, cold internet. I have come to offer you content. Not because I think you need it, but because I feel compelled to create it.  Compulsion is the first step on the dangerous (and all too often mortal) path of art making.  I will elaborate on these ideas in later posts, but first how about some links and a picture! 🙂

I made it from a drawing I did at the airport.
