Back in my schoolyard days I was something of metaphysical philosopher. During this time of heavy and fluid thought I came up with a small word game which I used to show the intrinsic disconnect between time and infinite. This is nothing new. Greek thinkers have been coming up these quick (and fun, if you’re a geek like me) mind funks for millenniums. Remember the one about Achilles and the tortoise?
The INFINITE SECOND THEORY:
So you take one second. Bam. And you break it into as many possible parts as you can. Infinite, right? O. K., so are you with me so far? Basically you have a second that is split into an infinite number of smaller units, lets call them, infiseconds. Now you set up your stop watch and let the second run through! *error error error* is all you see on your watch face. Reason? Because if there are truly an infinite amount of units to the second, it will never run out. This leaves us with one (and only one) of two possibilities.
Either time does not exist, or infinite does not exist. Since time is experiential, (only the relative measurements are devised by men and women) then we can dismiss the foolish idea that time is not real. We grow older. Time exists. Infinite on the other hand is not experiential, although the national debt might convince you otherwise. There is no ‘proof’ that infinite exists. And there can not be. Unless we find a number that is not -1, such that when you add 1 to it, it equals zero. I believe this number exists. What about you? Time or Infinite? Or both? Stay hungry.

Wow–you are on fire with the blogging in 09! Three awesome posts. That should be your resolution…

I thought the resolution part was implied. But you’re right. Resolution Number Six: Blog constantly.

the watch is a measurement of the progression of planetary bodies in orbit, as in the measurement of night and day, and the orbit of earth around the sun. the measurement of time is an indicator of the progression of existence. it takes little self awareness to realize that as life progresses you do not retain infinite physical capabilities. As for the infinite, we function in this dimension, the third, of infinite space time continuum. infinite does not move, it is stagnant and does not decay and no measurement of time will grasp is totality in that infinite is not a nano second but and infinite measure of them over infinite amount of time. its like we are in a stagnant body vacuum, and all the stuff in it what we call matter, and the various degrees of matter, like our lifeforms, are subjected to the tests of time within and infinite continuum. your mind is the feeling, experience of the infinite. you tap into an infinite stream of consciousness while you are able to live. your body will die, but the consciousness you possessed will be available to the the next life form, also you can pass on mental, social, attributes to the preceding generations, and thus the mind is like a canvas that is constantly being repainted, and never finished, human life is an expression of the potential of the infinite, and the fear of not being infinite biologically, thus we cannot fear the infinite, but know that we are but a small fraction of time that we enjoy so much, but the infinite feels this way forever, thus supports life within itself. almost like we are life within the mind of the infinite. its like we are all universes within universes. like bubbles clumping together. like foam, but inside each foam is worlds of experience the beholder is almost insufficient to express.

Time is used to measure a series of “infinite” moments as experienced through progressive movements of “thought”. Infinite as experiential— air, dust, emotions, IDeAs.
